Higgs1 (1) Inclusive Search for Standard Model Higgs Boson Production in the WW Decay Channel using the CDF II Detector, CDF collaboration The first exclusion around M_H = 165 GeV was established last year by CDF and DZero collaboration. These three papers have been published at same time, each individual analysis from CDF and DZero, and a paper describes combination result which was the first joint paper from CDF and DZero collaboration.
(2) Search for Higgs Boson Production in Dilepton and Missing Energy Final States with 5.4 fb-1 of pp Collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV, D0 collaboration
(3) Combination of Tevatron searches for the standard model Higgs boson in the W+W- decay mode, CDF and DZero collaboration
Higgs2 (1) Search for a Standard Model Higgs boson produced in the decay channel 4l, CMS collaboration The result of H->ZZ, 4 lepton final state from CMS with data of L= 1.66 fb-1. This channel has low expected signal yields, but very low background, therefore this analysis is the most sensitive analysis for now in the searches on H->ZZ process. It would be very interesting to compare with other final states, 2 lepton + MET (CMS-PAS-HIG-11-016) and 2lepton + 2jets (CMS-PAS-HIG-11-017). Kumar Arun, Hirose Minoru, Sgandurra Louis
Higgs3 (2) Search for the Higgs Boson in the Fully Leptonic W+ W- Final State, CMS collaboration H->WW is a golden mode for Higgs hunting. Now there are excess in the Higgs mass range of 130-150 GeV. Therefore this analysis can not be missed because H->WW is primary channel in this mass range. Good to compare Tevatron result .
Higgs4 (3) Search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the two photon decay channel with the ATLAS detector at the LHC H->gamma gamma is also golden mode for Higgs hunting at low mass region. This analysis has very simple topology, and the key of this analysis is understanding of two gamma system. Because of simplicity, this analysis goes in very deep on fundamental items. It might be interesting to compare CMS analysis on this channel (CMS-PAS-HIG-11-021).
BSM1 Precise measurement of the positive muon anomalous magnetic moment. Muon g-2 Collaboration (H.N. Brown (Brookhaven) et al.). Muon (g-2) is one of the sensitive probes for new physics at the TeV scale. The BNL experiment involves many beautiful ideas, from the BMT equation for the spin precession in a magnetic field to the magic momentum, to the time dilation due to special relativity, to the (V-A) structure of charged current weak interaction describing the muon decays. This paper is an ideal place to lean many different subjects from a single experiment.
BSM2 (1) Measuring masses of semiinvisibly decaying particles pair produced at hadron colliders These papers discuss how to measure the masses of particles decaying into final states with dark matter candidates at hadron colliders. Sec. XI A and B of the second paper will make a good subject for students to present at the school. Other parts of the paper and the 1st paper are good introductory materials for the subject. The subject is essentially about kinematics, and therefore should not be very difficult for most students. Ton Nguyen, Yoshida Hisataka, Balli Fabrice
(2) Guide to transverse projections and mass-constraining variables
BSM3 Exploring the Higgs portal In many BSM’s, a Higgs boson can decay into a pair of dark matter particles, thereby is invisible at colliders. This paper considers a simple model and discusses how to reconstruct the Higgs sector in such a case.
BSM4 (1) Minimal Universal Extra Dimensions in CalcHEP/CompHEP. The first paper provides the detailed informations for studying the minimal UED scenarios using CalcHEP/CompHEP. Students are encouraged to choose some simple final states at the LHC (such as extra Z or W, the KK states of the SM Z or W) and study their discovery limits. The second paper is one recent example which discusses the W’ in the UED. King Matthew, Yuan Xingbo, Hiraki Takahiro
(2) W' in new physics models at the LHC
BSM5 (1) Implications of Initial LHC Searches for Supersymmetry These two papers consider discovery potential of SUSY at LHC with/without the Xenon100 data. You can study both papers and figure out the importance of the direct detection experiments for dark matter on SUSY models.
(2) Supersymmetry and Dark Matter in Light of LHC 2010 and Xenon100 Data
BSM6 Pure General Gauge Mediation for Early LHC Searches This paper considers the early LHC signatures for general gauge mediation scenarios.

First results of the search of neutrinoless double beta decay with the NEMO 3 detector.
Electroweak1 Measurement of the standard model parameters from a study of W and Z bosons", UA2 collaboration Tests of the standard model by one of the experiments which first observed the weak intermediate bosons in the 80's at CERN. This is much less precise than what was done in the next generation of experiments(LEP and SLC) but is interesting to read for historical reasons. Note also that the measurement of the W decay product asymmetry presented in this paper was not repeated afterwards.
Electroweak2 A precise determination of the electroweak mixing angle from semileptonic neutrino scattering", the CHARM collaboration Determination of the electroweak mixing angle from neutrino scattering before the advent of LEP/SLC experiments. At that time, neutrino scattering offered the most precise method to measure sin2(theta_w). Comparing their measurement with that deduced from W and Z masses measured at hadron colliders, this paper concluded that standard model calculations had to be pushed beyond first order to reconcile the different experiments. The aim of LEP/SLC experiments was to test these extended calculations with great precision.
Electroweak3 A combined analysis of the hadronic and leptonic decays of the Z0", OPAL collaboration Early derivation of the number of neutrino species from measurements of the Z0 line shape from the first year of data taking at LEP. This is the first constraint that LEP experiments placed on the standard model after only one year of running and a modest amount of Z0 events collected. The precision on the number of neutrino species improved a lot afterwards when millions of Z decays were recorded but the conclusion remained identical.
Electroweak4 Updated parameters of the Z0 resonance from combined preliminary data of the LEP experiments, the LEP collaboration Combination of all four LEP experiment measurements on the Z0 resonance that gave the first indirect constraint on the top quark mass before its discovery at the Tevatron. More technical that the other papers (less experimental details) this publication explains how the standard model can be tested with precise electroweak measurements.
Electroweak5 Cross-sections and leptonic forward-backward asymmetries from the Z0 running of LEP", DELPHI collaboration Summary of all Z cross-section and Z decay angular asymmetry measurements performed at LEP1 by one of the LEP experiments. All measurements reported here are final. They are used to test the standard model and derive indirect constraints on various standard model parameters (number of neutrino species, top mass, strong interaction coupling constant...). This is an example of constraints that can be placed on the standard model with the full statistics of LEP1. By combining more measurements from the four LEP experiments as well as from other experiments the standard model can be tested even more precisely. Nobe Takuya, Zhou Xiaorong, Rouene Jeremy
Electroweak6 First run II measurement of the W boson", the CDF collaboration First measurement of the W mass from run II data at the Tevatron. Experimental details are given about the event selection and the method to ensure a precise measurement of the W mass, which is an key ingredient of the standard model tests. Tran Lan, Gomber Bhawna, Barone Gaetano
Electroweak7 Measurement of the top quark mass in the lepton+jets channel using the matrix element method on 3.6fb-1 of D0 run II data, the D0 collaboration One of the most precise measurements of the top quark mass at the Tevatron. Describes the event selection, the (not trivial) method used to derive the mass and the calibration of the method. The precise value of the top mass is a key ingredient of the standard model tests. Chapelain Antoine, Truong Loan, Sircar Anirvan
