FAPPS11 is a two-week pre-doctoral school, which aims at providing future PhD students and young physicists with theoretical and practical tools necessary to address the challenges of this experimental field in the next decade. This School, mainly oriented to Asian and French students, will allow the building of fruitful relationships, crucial to the future of particle physics. It will take place in the prestigious Ecole de physique des Houches in the French Alps. The limited number of students (about 50) will favour informal discussions with lecturers in a friendly atmosphere. In the same spirit, discussion sessions will be organised, following academic lectures. The School will start at CERN on Sunday 9 October, where the participants will be offered dinner and accomodation. After breakfast and a tour of CERN, including lunch, on Monday, the participants will be transferred by bus to Les Houches in the late afternoon. The lectures will be held from Tuesday 11 October to Thursday 20 October. On Sunday 16 October, students will be free to enjoy the beautiful mountains. The students will be offered a choice of topical experimental papers. After choosing a topic, they will have to study the related papers during the two weeks of the School and give a summary on the last day. This work will be done by group of three students from different regions of the world, under tutorship of a lecturer.
The cost is 475 euros per student. It covers the travels from CERN to Les Houches and Les Houches to Geneva, accomodation and meals from dinner on 9 October to lunch on 21 October, and tuition fees.
